Narellan Town Centre, retail shopping centre marketing, wanted a fast, fun way to build excitement for Santa’s upcoming parade. I created an after-hours reel featuring Santa “sneaking around” the centre, filmed on iPhone in 4K and delivered with an overnight turnaround for social posting.

The Brief
The centre wanted an after-hours reel with Santa. Filmed on Monday 3rd for delivery the next day, as a teaser to remind the community that Santa would be arriving at the centre on Saturday 8 November. The priority was speed, it needed to be filmed and turned around quickly so it could go live straight away on socials.
Approach
The brief was intentionally loose, the marketing team trusted me to run with it and make it work. I arrived with an iPhone set to 4K, a portable light and a plan to capture lots of short moments that could be edited into a punchy, story-led reel.
We treated it like two hours of playful improv, keeping it cheeky but clean, and focusing on variety so the edit could stay fast, energetic and social-first. Editing was completed overnight and the final reel was approved with no changes.
Otter fact:
Sea otters are most active at dawn and dusk, prime time for sneaky missions and quick captures. Dusk is peak otter mischief time!

Viral-style social reel
A fun, after-hours reel designed to stop the scroll quickly, build anticipation and drive families to the parade. It achieved strong organic performance, with over 30K views across Instagram and Facebook without paid spend.


Fast turnaround delivery
Filmed on site and edited overnight to meet the social schedule, allowing the reel to be posted while the announcement window was still hot. It was approved with no changes and delivered quickly for immediate use.


Agile creative production
Worked closely to understand the brief and capture an improvised scenario with Santa in a way that still felt fun, professional and on brand. Filmed two hours of varied moments to keep the edit dynamic, using a lean setup with iPhone 4K and portable lighting.


Event traffic support
The reel was created to help drive attendance for Santa’s arrival parade. Parade day traffic increased compared to the previous year, showing strong alignment between the content and the campaign goal.

Outcome
The reel went viral in under a week with no paid spend, reaching over 30K views across Instagram and Facebook. It helped build excitement for Santa’s arrival and supported an increase in parade day traffic compared with the previous year.
